Each row in the book is a different lead character, Noah Cross, Evelyn Mulray, and Jake Gittes. Each column in the book breaks the film into 40-second increments, which are used to track the appearance of characters, their interactions, as well as the sound elements and pacing of the film. With an accordion fold, this book measures over sixty feet in width.
